When someone said "I got it from midnight auto supply" this
meant, they went over the fence of a wrecking yard. This person would
have gone down to the wrecking yard, during the day to locate the part
they wanted, then walked along the fence to find a spot, to come over
that night.
The wrecking yard owners had a way of taking a bite out of
crime, called dogs. The origin of the wrecking yard dog is unknown,
but I think it had something to do with a wolverine,
There are two noticeable characteristic, of a wrecking yard
dog. One: their coats have very dark slick spots, along the back bone,
this is made up of transmission fluid, axle grease and Havoline oil.
Two: they live to bite certain parts of the human anatomy, such as
buttocks, thighs and heels.
One day at school, Denny told me he was going to the midnight
auto supply that night, I told him to stop and pick me up. Denny
pulled the car over, next to the fence, we were on the far side of the
wrecking yard.
When we got out of the car, we could hear the dogs barking, but
they seem to be on the opposite side of the yard.
Denny and I just got started walking along the fence, when we
heard the thump, thump, thump of running dogs across car tops., within
seconds the dogs were on top of a old car, about two feet above the
fence, looking down at us.
The barking and flash of teeth, unnerved us, we turned and ran
back to the car. As Denny was speed shifting through the gears, out of
the corner of his mouth, he says to me. "I didn't need those parts
anyway"
