Down along the south shore of Lake Washington, is a peninsula,
called Seward Park. There is a one way loop around the peninsula that
was a cool cruise spot during the summer.
Hot cars and cool chicks, would park, on both sides of the
narrow road, it was the place to be, to check out the cars and chicks.
About 11 at night the cops started clearing the cars out of the park,
but it was a futile attempt, since the cars would just continue around
the loop.
The peninsula was a heavily wooded area, but over the years,
teenagers looking for a spot to park and make out, had made inroads
into the woods.
These little inroads, were a good spot to park, on a hot summer
night, if you were going skinny dipping.
The boys and girls would get undress, down to their underwear,
lock the clothes in the trunk of the car, then with towels in hand,
walk out of the woods, across the road and down to the bank to the
lake.
My girl friend and I were just cruising the "Ave"; there wasn’t
much going on. Around midnight we swing up to a hamburger stand called
"Zesto’s" near our high school.
Denny and Larry and their dates, were just standing around
their cars. I pulled up next to them and asked. "Do you want to go
skinny dipping?"
There was some talk, between Denny and Larry’s dates, but at
last they agreed to go. We found a place on top of a little hill to
park. Everyone got undressed, and we started walking a trail down to
the lake, just before we got out of the woods, all of a sudden
headlights, red lights and spot lights came on, all of us just froze.
The cops were yelling at the three couples in the water to come
out. We just stood there, we were out of sight of the cops, and we
wanted to see what was going to happen.
There were two cops down along the bank; they were helping the
people up and out of the lake. When the couples came up over the bank,
the headlights of the cop car highlighted their features, there was a
uniform gasp, from Denny, Larry and me, it was our parents.
