Just a short note to let all them "dudes" in sunny? California that we ole boy's down south were not so far behind as thought. I am sending you attached for the scrapbook page a picture of my ride. Eat your heart out so-cal. from BOB the worlds oldest teenager.

flipper wheel covers and wide whites - this is 50's

I just had to write and say how much I love your site and how much of a help it has been to my own "tribute to Rock 'n' Roll" website.

My name is David Hornby and I was born in 1954, which makes me a little too young to remember when it was all "happening", but at 47 y/o I still feel a twinge of envy towards guys 10 - 20 years older than myself, who are able to recollect the days of the Fabulous Fifties. If somebody could build a time machine and offer me a one-way ticket back to the 1950s, I'd be in that machine faster than you can say, "blue suede shoes!"

I could sit and listen to people talking about the Fifties for hours and hours. The era when everything was so much better; cars were far more stylish with their 'futuristic' tail fins and gleaming mass of chrome. When we had Drive-In movies (instead of drive-by shootings). When every diner was alive with the sounds of Rock 'n' Roll emanating from the jukebox.

Okay, we may not have had all the things that this, present technological age has brought us, like home computers and stuff, but what it may have lacked in the technological department, it certainly made up for in everything else. Obviously, I can only imagine what it must have been like to grow up in 50s America, but from what I know about it, it must have been a truly amazing time. Why did they let it end?

I know it's been said many times before (and probably best remembered by Danny and The Juniors), but Rock 'n' Roll will never die, and it's all thanks to people like you, Don, who devote all their free time to showing others what a wonderful time the 50s were. Your website really inspires me and, as far as I'm concerned, anyone who owns a computer and who hasn't dropped by your site yet, just hasn't lived!

Please feel free to drop by my site when you have a minute, Don. It's still under construction at the moment, so please excuse the mess. I'm pretty new to all this web building stuff, so please bear with me. You'll probably recognize one or two of the furnishings (I hope you don't mind) and there's a couple of fun puzzles that I compiled to keep any visitors entertained. My friends are complaining that I haven't put the answers up there yet, but I plan to feature them on Page #3 when the time comes. It's just that I keep coming up with new ideas for more "50s related" fun puzzles. I like to write too (I think that's pretty obvious, by now. ha ha) and I'm presently working on a short story with a strong 50s theme, that I'm hoping to include on my web pages. The link for my website is:- (site no longer available)

Thanks for all your help, Don, I really do appreciate it. Your website is the best on the Internet. Thanks again.

thank you Dave (07/09/2001)

What a Great SITE, I love it and the great nostalgia feelings it gives me every time I check it out, I am always in the 50's when I go cruising in either my 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria 2dr Hardtop or my 1958 Ford Fairlane 4dr Town Sedan, here in Sioux Falls, SD, My wife and I both grew up in the 50's and get tons of the 50's memories when we go cruising and when we check out your site, Keep up the great work and maybe you could put my cars on your site,

Thanks, Archie and Julie, Sioux Falls, South Dakota
